	abstract = {The scholarly relationship between Béla Bartók and Constantin Brăiloiu is a beautiful and highly instructive episode in the history of ethnomusicology beyond borders. Brăiloiu was Bartók’s most important associate concerning Romanian folk music research, a devoted supporter of his work and propagator of his most important achievements. Bartók, in turn, cited the system of documentation applied by the research group of his younger colleague as an exemplary method in his “precepts of music folklore”. The correspondence between these two authorities of folk music research offers deep insight into their collaboration. Ferenc László, the most assiduous editor of these letters, devoted a large and systematic article to discussing the main lessons of these documents available by the 1980s. A rather recently discovered collection of 36 Bartók letters survived in the Paris Brăiloiu estate, however, received considerably less attention in the literature. These letters, written mostly between 1933 and 1939, shed light on the late workshop of Bartók the folklorist: there occur issues related to Bartók’s late revision of his Romanian folk music collection, questions related to phonograph and gramophone recordings, or discrepancies between the views of both on transcribing and analyzing folk music, among others. In my article I would like to draw attention to some particularly interesting points of this material.},

	abstract = {Relația științifică dintre Béla Bartók și Constantin Brăiloiu reprezintă un episod frumos și extrem de instructiv din istoria etnomuzicologiei „fără frontiere”. Brăiloiu a fost cel mai important colaborator al lui Bartók în cercetarea muzicii populare românești, un susținător devotat al operei sale și propagator al celor mai importante realizări ale sale. Bartók, la rândul său, a considerat sistemul de documentare aplicat de grupul de cercetare al colegului său mai tânăr drept o metodă exemplară în „preceptele sale de folclor muzical” (De ce și cum să culegem muzică populară). Corespondența dintre aceste două autorități în cercetarea muzicii populare oferă o perspectivă profundă asupra colaborării lor. Ferenc László, cel mai asiduu editor al acestor scrisori, a dedicat un articol amplu și sistematic pentru a discuta principalele lecții ale acestor documente disponibile până în 1980. Colecția de 36 de scrisori ale lui Bartók, păstrate în proprietatea lui Brăiloiu la Paris și descoperite relativ recent, a primit însă considerabil mai puțină atenție în literatură. Aceste scrisori, majoritatea scrise între 1933 și 1939, oferă o perspectivă nouă asupra activităților folcloristice târzii ale lui Bartók: spre exemplu, apar probleme legate de revizuirea transcripțiilor colecției de muzică populară românească a lui Bartók, întrebări legate de unele înregistrări pe fonograf și gramofon sau discrepanțe între opiniile celor doi privind transcrierea și analizarea muzicii populare. În articolul prezent, aș dori să atrag atenția asupra unor puncte deosebit de interesante ale acestui material.},
