A detailed quantitative analysis reveals the structure and distribution of social incomes among different groups in contemporary Hungarian society. This analysis includes factors such educational attainment, demographic structure and income of households, number of children, and deprivation index. We argue that although the traditional approaches of research to social stratification have proved to be suitable for describing certain trends in post-transition transformations in Central and Eastern Europe, as a result of the social changes of the last quarter-century and the related new intellectual tasks, it is now necessary to establish new models focusing on social integration rather than just update stratification models based on occupation, consumption or the different types of capital. In our study, we present this new line of thinking through the example of Hungarian society. To prove the benefits of a model based on the logic of social integration, we examine the differences between social integration and social inequalities/stratification models. and willingness to pay (WTP) for environmentally friendly energy sources in Hungary. Using data from a nationally representative survey of 2000 adults, we integrate socio-demographic, attitudinal perspectives to examine how social structure, identity, and moral norms shape pro-environmental behaviour. Factor analysis identified four key attitudinal dimensions—environmental self-identity, perceived governmental environmental awareness, personal norms, and social norms—incorporated into a series of linear and logistic regression models. The results show that education and urban residence underpin environmental identity and moral commitment, while income and social capital exert no direct influence. Environmental self-identity is the strongest predictor of the WTP, nearly doubling the likelihood of financial support for greener energy, while personal norms play a secondary but meaningful role. Climate change scepticism significantly reduces the WTP, whereas awareness alone does not, suggesting that knowledge without moral engagement is insufficient to drive behaviour. Interaction effects reveal contextual variation, with settlement type moderating the link between attitudes and behaviour. Overall, the findings demonstrate that pro-environmental action depends less on material capacity than on internalized moral and identity-based motivations, underscoring the importance of HUNGARIAN 32 2 56 69 56 14 2024 A tanulmány témája a magyar társadalom jövedelmi viszonyainak a jellemzése a társadalmi igazságosság szempontjai szerint. Hiábavaló kísérlet lenne egy ilyen rövid írás keretei között a társadalmi igazságosság értelmezéseinek még csak a vázlatos ismertetése is. Annyit tehetünk, hogy felhívjuk a figyelmet néhány alapműre, valamint magyarul is hozzáférhető tanulmányra, amely részletesebben foglalkozik a kérdéskörrel (Hayek 1976, Sen and Williams 1982, Friedman 1973, Sen 1999, illetve Solas 2009, Örkény 2022, Rawls 1997). Az értelmezések többsége abban megegyezik, hogy a társadalmi igazságosság a javak valamely etikai, morális értékrend szerinti elosztásának az elvét határozza meg, ami hatással van az elosztás gyakorlati kivitelezésére is. A különböző igazságosság-értelmezések tulajdonképpen annak az elvi kereteit rögzítik, hogy a jövedelmek minden társadalomban egyenlőtlen elosztásának a mértéke milyen határok között elfogadható, mennyire felel meg az adott etikai elveknek. Mennyiben biztosítja az adott társadalom válságok, törések, manifesztálódó konfliktusok nélküli működését, mi a társadalmi és politikai/hatalmi funkciója, és mennyire hatékonyan segítik mindezt az elosztás módjai és intézményei. Az elosztás olyan komplex rendszereken keresztül történik, mint az adópolitika, a szociális támogatások vagy a jövedelmek megosztása a társadalmi csoportok között. A tanulmányban a magyar társadalom jövedelemmegoszlásait tekintem át azzal a céllal, hogy azok elemzését olyan új szempontokkal bővítsem ki, mint például a polgárosodás és a társadalmi integráció.
