Wearable devices in sport - IMUs, GPS, heart-rate wearables, smart textiles, and hybrid systems - have matured rapidly from 2020–2025. Research in this period concentrated on validation and accuracy of sensors during sport-specific movements, integration of smart textiles and embedded sensors for comfort/continuous monitoring, as well as advanced analytics and machine learning for performance and injury risk prediction, and implementation issues such as data quality, privacy, and real-world adoption. The authors reviewed topic-related articles between 2020 and 2025 and analyzed the found data by using Vosviewer software. The findings show an increasing research trend in various aspects of the topic.
