The study examines the ideological/party preferences of Hungarian Jews who emigrated
to Palestine/Israel in the early years of the Jewish state and their integration into
the new world. Tibor Scher, Director of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Palestine
(Hungarian State Cultural Institute and Library) even conducted a kind of poll among
the Hungarian Jewry of the Yishuv, in which he examined these preferences. The Hungarian
version of the right-wing radical Lehi (Lohamei Herut Yisrael) manifesto, which was
forming into a party, is also included at the end of the study, which was discovered
and translated by Attila Novak. This source (probably dating from the autumn of 1948
or 1950) which shows that the group, which was formed as a party in 1948, tried to
recruit members from the local Hungarian Jewish community.
