that there is no point in taking action to protect creation, as we have already caused
irreversible damage, and Earth is already beyond repair. What does one of the last
texts of the New Testament, the Second Epistle of Peter, tell us about this situation?
Does the eschatological image of the dissolution of our entire world legitimise a
refusal to act responsibly? The paper seeks to answer this question on the basis of
2 Peter 3:5–14.
