The aim of the study is to summarise and review the historical documents relating
to thedevelopment and evolution of the Lake Velence area, not only to provide an insight
into thehistory and changing functions of the Lake Velence municipalities, but also
to provide achronological overview of local economic development ideas, their implementation
andpractical results. A wide range of primary and secondary, quantitative and qualitative
researchmethods were used to investigate the situation and development potential of
the sevenmunicipalities with tourist functions under study (Gárdony, Kápolnásnyék,
Pákozd, Pázmánd,Sukoró, Nadap, Velence). In addition to identifying the untapped potential,
it is also importantto find an answer to the question of how to solve the fundamental
problem of tourismbusinesses, namely the seasonal fluctuation of visitor flows.
