Katolikus iskoláink és hagyományaik pótolhatatlan kapcsolatot jelentenek a múlttal. Jelen kötet betekintést nyújt abba, hogy a régi korok nagy intézményei hogyan gazdálkodtak az erőforrásokkal és milyen fenntartható megoldásokat kínáltak. A múltbeli sikerek és kudarcok tanulmányozásával a fenntartható fejlődés elkerülheti a történelmi hibák megismétlődését. A tanító szerzetesrendek a Habsburg Birodalomban és benne Magyarországon jelentős szerepet játszottak a katolikus egyház tanításainak és hagyományainak megőrzésében és terjesztésében. Ennek a történelemnek a megismerése segít értékelni az egyháznak az oktatásra, a művészetre, a tudományra és a társadalmi igazságosságra gyakorolt hatását. A katolikus iskolák történetének és fenntarthatóságának tanulmányozása elősegíti az összetartozás érzését és a sokféleség tiszteletét. Megmutatja, hogyan alkalmazkodtak ezek az intézmények multikulturális és vallásközi kontextusban, és miképpen boldogultak ezen keretek között, miközben hűek maradtak katolikus mivoltukhoz.
