Wolfgang Lazius' chorography of Hungary, Regni Hungariae Archaeologiae libri tres. 174 2023 Kutatásaim fókuszában Wolfgang Lazius latin nyelvű Magyarország-chorográfiája, a Regni Hungariae Archaeologiae libri tres áll. Wolfgang Lazius, a 16. századi bécsi humanista, igazi polihisztor volt, az orvoslás mellett a történetírásnak és a térképészetnek szentelte az életét. Rendkívül termékeny szerző volt, ám orvosi jellegű elméleti munkákat nem hagyott az utókorra, sokkal inkább térképészként és történészként vívott ki magának hírnevet. Bár számos tanulmány született Lazius munkásságát illetően, de azok leginkább a térképészeti tevékenységére koncentrálnak. Az életmű javát kitevő azon történeti tárgyú írások közül nyomtatásban megjelent munkákat vizsgálták, azok, amelyek kéziratban maradtak fent, az utóbbi évtizedben kerültek a kutatás fókuszába.
