Student dropout is a common problem in higher education, though its rate varies across
different fields of study. Reducing early school leaving and dropout rates to below
10% has been one of the European Union's strategic educational goals since 2015. There
is a growing awareness of this issue both in Europe and in Hungary. This study aims
to introduce the initial steps of a system (AVATAR) designed to support student success
and reduce dropout rates. This system competes with 21st-century IT developments and
aligns with the generational characteristics of the target audience. The study addresses
the social context of dropout analysis, outlines the problem, and then presents the
operational principles of the IT system developed at the University of Dunaújváros.
