Online harassment is a significant issue worldwide, particularly affecting children,
with one inthree becoming victims of internet harassment, leading to severe psychological
consequencessuch as anxiety and depression. The aim is to highlight the necessity
of legal systems adaptingto the challenges of the digital age to effectively address
online harassment. In my analysis, Ireviewed statistics and case studies from Hungary,
as well as U.S. legislation as examples ofmeasures against cyberbullying. More than
10,000 criminal proceedings for harassment wereconducted in Hungary, underscoring
the severity of the issue. However, legal frameworks arenot adequately adapted to
the challenges presented by the digital age. Modernizing legalframeworks and adapting
to new technologies is essential for protection, especially to ensurethe online safety
of children.
