Archaeological research of the Calvinist Church in Craidorolț in 2023. The first written
mention of the village dates back to
1302. The village church was first mentioned in 1334 in the
list of papal tithe. The church was renovated and partially
rebuilt in 1869. Recent research has provided information
about the construction phases of the building. In section
S1/2023, foundations made of medieval brick were
discovered, indicating that the nave and the pillar were built
in the Gothic period. The burial under the foundation of
the nave indicates an earlier church in the area. In section
S2/2023 it became clear that the pillar and the sanctuary
date from the modern period, and the foundation of the
sacristy was discovered.
