Archaeological research in the medieval town of Carei in 2023. The town of Carei was
commercial and administrative center of the area during the Middle Ages. The archaeological
research was carried out on a rather big plot (3027 sqm) situated close to the medieval
nucleus of the settlement and the castle. 90 archeological features were discovered;
five of them dates to the late Middle Ages (15th to 16th century), while the majority
are from the modern and recent period: 17th to 18th cent, and the turn of the 19th
and 20th cent. Discoveries include fragment of ceramic vessels, stove tiles, tools
and a great number of animal bones.
