The operation of belt conveyors in the mining industry faces several issues, such
as premature wear of mechanical components and increased energy consumption. This
article develops a simulation model of a frequency-controlled asynchronous electric
drive for a belt conveyor using MATLAB/Simulink. The control system synthesis is performed
using the root locus method with the Vyshnegradsky diagram. Dynamic processes occurring
in the conveyor's electric drive during startup under nominal load are investigated.
The results show that the minimum overshoot of the electromagnetic torque while meeting
the specified requirements for the system is achieved with Vyshnegradsky parameters
A=2.5 and B=3.1. Experiments confirm that the accuracy of the control system output,
calculated based on the approximate transient response, is acceptable, with a deviation
of 0.014%.
