Providing insight into pan-European processes the study briefly outlines the history
of the institutionalization and regulation of public catering for children in Hungary,
from the end of the 19th century until the birth of the 37/2014 (IV.30) Decree on
nutrition and health regulations for public catering, which came into effect in 2015.
It highlights the researchers and researches that played a role in determining the
needs of children and in the development of public catering, outlines the relevant
social policy actions and reports on the nutritional surveys that led to stricter
regulations improving the quality of public catering.
