Ewing's sarcoma

Ewing's sarcoma (ES) is a high-grade malignant bone tumor affecting mostly children and young adults. Diagnosis is based on biopsy and histological analysis; its treatment is multimodal, the combination of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy. Spinal ES has to be resected en bloc to achieve the best local control and survival although surgery is often challenging with a high complication rate. Detailed planning, cooperation with oncologists, tumor-free resection margins, and proper reconstruction are the key elements of the surgical treatment. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.
