Az első időpontban vette kezdetét a Krím félsziget annektálása, a második pedig az Ukrajna elleni támadás megindításának a napja. Az események másik közös vonását a válaszként bevezetett nyugati szankciók jelentik. A jelen tanulmány is elsősorban azokkal foglalkozik. Továbbá megvizsgálja, hogy az orosz vezetés milyen lépéseket tesz annak érdekében, hogy minél jobban enyhíteni tudja a gazdaságot érő kedvezőtlen hatásokat, amelyek közül írásunkban kiemeljük a vélhetően a legnagyobb károkkal járókat és azok pénzügyi következményeit.
