The growing body ofresearch addressing the issue of imbalances in DEEs has raisedthe challenge of how to recommend policies specifically designedto overcome the causes of such imbalances. This paper exploresthe issue of platformization in three developed and high-incomecountries in the European Union: Germany, France and Austria.The framework and empirical measurement of the DigitalPlatform Economy (DPE) Index are used to analyze the state ofDEE in these three countries, identify the most prominentweaknesses that could be barriers, and propose policyrecommendations to overcome these barriers and promote thedevelopment of DEE. The results of the three-step investigationpresent the current state of DEE in each country andfind thatsimilar constraining elements in the Digital Multi-Sided Platformsof the three countries have the most potential to systemicallydisrupt the DEE balance. Tailor-made policies with a holisticapproach are recommended to address these constrainingelements and target overall DEE growth.
