Abstract—The aim of our research is to develop an efficient algorithm for the automatic
switching of gear shifters located in the drives of regular buses equipped with electric
twin drive. In this paper, a report is presented on our progress with the procedure
for back-calculating electric motor efficiencies from driving cycles. The mechanical
calculation for determining the efficiency has been completed for vehicles equipped
with single drive. In order for the method to be used for twin drives as well, additional
emerging problems must be solved, which will be described in the second half of this
document.
