"Sustainability" is a key term, not only when we talk about “eco buildings”, but also when we talk about lifestyle and development in general. Widespread awareness of climate change, pollution, depletion of natural resources together with huge amount of technical opportunities on global market have triggered professional demands for architects with advanced skills in design. Present task is not only to create new technical variations, but to re-think architectural design process to find a really complex evaluation attitude for architectural design practice taking into consideration the whole complexity of available information and data, while providing permanent control over decisions, to protect our environment and future of next generations. Integration and systematization of all relevant information, aspects and tools into creative design process from the very first step is a crucial part of contemporary architecture. We should redefine architectural design process as a coordinated set of stages and sub-stages replacing traditional experience-related process by a more conscious complex, and performance based approach of choices and solutions for specific design problems according to holistic, integrated method and a multilevel, project oriented, site specific database system. Local, complex database is a basic component of integrated design created from the very first step and continuously fitted to the project. It helps sustainable adaptation, elimination of side effects and construction failures. © SGEM2017 All rights reserved.
