The study compares the results obtained after using in the bioscouring treatment two different complexing agents, EDTA and sodium citrate. The treatments were applied on a woven fabric made from flax/cotton blended fibers. The treatment was conducted in phosphate buffer of pH=8. The enzymatic process was performed using different time and concentrations of commercial pectinolytic product. The influence of the two chelating agents in the bioscouring treatments was determined by analyzing various properties of the treated material such as: weight loss, hydrophilicity, tensile strength and elongation at break. The fiber degradation degree was also evaluated by: optic microscopy and XRD. © SGEM2016.
