A nagyobbik töredék azonban égetés előtt készült jeleket tartalmaz, tehát eredeti. A tárgy pontos eredete ugyan ismeretlen, de okkal feltehető, hogy a 15. századból – 16. század első feléből származik. A felirat első sora nem érthető, a második: [- - -]+uk rótt am [- - -?]. Gyenge minőségű házikerámiáról van szó, amelyen a (nyilván helyszínen készült) rovásírás nehezen magyarázható, leginkább a Mátyás-korabeli rovásírás-divattal lehet kapcsolatban, egy főúri vagy egyházi birtokos számára dolgozó fazekas terméke lehet. The runiform script from Káposztásmegyer nobody believed in. In 1971, two potsherds containing written characters of the Szekler runiform script were found in Káposztásmegyer (Budapest, District IV) during earth moving activity. Though identified as medieval products, the sherds have been regarded as forgeries ever since. However, the bigger fragment was written before firing, thus it is an original sample. Although its exact origins are unknown, it is reasonable to assume that it is an artefact from the 15th or the first part of the 16th century. The first verse of the inscription is not intelligible, the second one says [- - -]+uk róttam [- - -?]. Since it is a domestic ware of inferior quality, the existence of the runic characters is hard to explain (in all likelihood, it was made on the spot); most probably it may be linked to the cult of Szekler runes in the era of King Mathias;
