Az integráció középpontjában az egységes termék-, szolgáltatás-, tőke- és munkaerőpiac megteremtése áll, és e cél elérése érdekében hozták létre az Eurázsiai Gazdasági Unió Bíróságát, az Eurázsiai Fejlesztési Bankot és az Eurázsiai Stabilizációs és Fejlesztési Alapot is. Bár a kezdeti gyors növekedés óta némi lassulás jeleit mutatja, az együttműködés eredményesnek bizonyul a résztvevői számára. Az EGU mégis inkább egy jól működő vám-uniónak tekinthető, amelyre ugyanakkor Oroszország gazdasági túlsúlya mellett időnként a tagállamok közti konfliktus is jellemző. Összességében viszont gazdasági és kereskedelmi potenciált jelenthet az Európai Unió és tagországai számára, elsősorban az energetikai és egyéb technológia- és innovációintenzív szektorok terén, továbbá az EGU-val való együttműködés megakadályozhatja a térség kizárólagos kínai és/vagy orosz befolyás alá kerülését. The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), initiated by the Kazakh President in 1994 but established in 2015, serves to strengthen economic relations among the member states (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Armenia) and to modernise their national economies. The integration focuses on the creation of a single market for products, services, capital and labour, and to this aim, the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Eurasian Development Bank and the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development have been created. Although there have been some signs of slowing down since the initial rapid growth, the cooperation has proven to be effective for its participants. However, the EAEU is rather a well-functioning customs union, which, at the same time, is sometimes characterised by Russia’s economic predominance and conflicts between the member states.
