Ridge-and-swale topography is a conspicuous feature of meander lobes. They are left
due to lateral shifting of river. In our work we focus on the ridge-and-swale topography
from the aspect of their influence on the metal accumulation. Topsoil samples were
taken from point bars and swales of the floodplain of the Tisza River. The concentrations
of six heavy metals (Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb) were determined. Our results have shown
that there were significant difference between bars and swales in case of five metals:
Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb.
