The reseach area is situated along the River Ipoly which always has had a special role as it s a water course. After the I. World War the boundaries were changed according to Treaty of Trianon. The new border between Czechoslovakia and Hungary separated the former estates and families, interrupted the relations between the two banks of the river, and the territories were isolated from the demolition of bridges in large numbers. The two side of the river have developed different ways for the last decades. The accession of EU has started to change this situation and rebuilt the connections not only physical with the built of bridges, but also socially. We did historical research on the road network and other connection, also their change int time. We also made a questionnaire research to get to know how intensive the relation between the inhabitants of the two side of the river, and also which are the most valuable and best known landscape values. Both the historical research and the questionnaire survey supported our hypothesis that the physical connections (roads, bridges) in the area do not meet the needs of the population, since the connections that have been established over the centuries make it necessary to pass through the two banks of Ipoly, even though the majority does their everyday activities within their country boundaries. First of all, due to family ties and relatives, there was a need to reconstruct former bridges. Kulcsszavak: Ipolymente, hidak, együttműködés
