Hungarian climate policy researchs highlight the strategic position of municipal governments, but legislation does not specify this as their mandatory task. There are actions related to climate adaptation in some other municipal tasks (e.g. increasing green areas, rainwater management, water resource management), and the related funding applications also require detailed climate protection justifications for these projects. It is characteristic of the settlements in the South Plains region to have a system of ditches around the houses, lined with trees. These constitute a kind of green and blue micronetwork, and play a significant role in improving local climate and living conditions. However, more and more ditches are covered and the alleys are also gone as parking lots are created. This indicated that the climate consciousness of the bodies of representatives and the inhabitants is insufficient. The aim of this research is to use the example of the selected settlements to prove that the development and reconstruction of these green and blue micronetworks is important for climate adaptation, to have good living conditions, and for the proper management of rainwater and inland waters.
