    In the XXI Century, the fossil fuel based economies have to undergo major changes so that they can protect and improve their competitiveness and economic position. By mid-century the part of the fossil fuels will have been run out and intensify of climate change. It compels the nations to search and use another energy sources, which reduces the emission of pollutants. According to Jeremy Rifkin - American economist - it will cause 3rd Industrial Revolution. This will rearrange the economic situation of the world significantly. In 2007 Hungary started EEOP and CTOP projects, which ensures the independence of the country from the dominance of fossil fuel in a long term. These projects help in economic development, keeping in view the aspects of sustainable development. The completed RES projects from perspective of geographical balance can strengthen the spatial differences within the country. In order to determine the successful future development directions, the analysis of these projects is important. Results contribute to the reduction of regional differences.
