The DNA sequencing project of mycoparasitic species have revealed genome sizes of 38.8 and 36.1 Mbp for T. viride and of T. atroviride respectively compared to 34 Mbp of T. reesei. Further, the genomic annotation showed expansion of a gene pool in biocontrol strains (11,800 genes for T. atroviride and 12,400 genes for T. viride) compared to industrial strain (9143 genes in saprophytic strain T. reesei) [84,85].
The mechanism of action of peptaibols and peptaibiotics
is similar to peptides of probiotics and involve the formation
of pores in bilayer lipid membranes [48,49,50,51,83,117,148].
