This paper proposes to set up a system theory model to facilitate the understanding
of heat pumps and define the relations between the various components. These relations
describe the connections between certain components and determine the parameters of
the components using different decisions and input data. Only system theory modelling
is capable of providing an exact definition of the various working points and enables
the making of decisions required to ensure optimal management.
