Automatic control of type 1 diabetic patients (known as artificial pancreas) is an
intensively researched problem. The current paper presents a modern robust control
possibility (using subcutaneous insulin delivery and subcutaneous glucose monitoring
route) developed on a high-complexity nonlinear diabetic patient model, and using
Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) methodology concepts. The controller is tested and
compared with real patient data obtained from insulin pump centers. The developed
framework kept blood glucose level more than 90% of the time inside the 4-8 mmol/l
interval (without any recalibration of the algorithm) proving its robustness.
