Kontextus
The EU also aims at the broader use of renewable energy sources and a diversification of the energy mix. Negotiations to build more alternative gas pipelines (Nabucco, Caspian Sea, and AGRI) started, but proved fruitless. Nevertheless, a Russian military interaction was also foreseen, for example, in case of the establishment of the Caspian pipeline. (Gereben 2014, 100.) The fact that no concrete preparations have been made for this pipeline can be explained partly by the political uncertainties in the Central Asian regions, and to some extent by the drastic fall in the prices of crude oil and natural gas in recent years (Bartha 2015), and, last but not least, by the huge costs expected
