Context
Writing at the time, political scientist Eric Beckett Weaver (2006, 157) predicted that “unless something changes radically in Hungarian politics, voters seem likely to remain entrapped in a choice between a former communist, corrupt socialist coalition, and a corrupt populist elite who insult the electorate’s intelligence for some time to come.” Weaver’s prediction came true in the same year that his article was written.
